TN Visa Status - North American Free Trade Agreement
Description
This non-immigrant visa category will allow Canadian or Mexican citizens (but not landed immigrants of Canada or Mexico) to enter the U.S. temporarily to engage in activities at a professional level. These activities have been defined as undertakings which require at least a bachelor's degree or appropriate credentials demonstrating status as a professional (see list of professional occupations).
A Canadian or Mexican citizen entering the U.S. in this visa category can apply for permission to stay for up to three years at a time, renewable indefinitely. No maximum limit on the number of extensions has been established. Dependents of a person holding TN status enter on the TD status and are not allowed to work in the U.S..
A bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement to qualify for TN status, unless otherwise specified.
