PREPARE Program: Information for Participants
Who is eligible for PREPARE?
PREPARE is open to all new international freshmen and transfer students. Graduate students are instead invited to attend the International Graduate and Professional Student Orientation on Saturday, August 22, 2009.
How do I sign up?
Students will be required to register on line to participate in PREPARE 2009. The on line registration form will go live in mid April. The deadline to register for PREPARE is 07/02/2009.
To register, please complete the PREPARE registration form by 07/02/2009. Upon submitting your registration, you will receive an automatic e-mail confirmation. If you do not receive this confirmation, please contact prepare@cornell.edu. Note: The International Students and Scholars Office has been experiencing technical problems with the PREPARE online application form. Even if you receive the confirmation email after submitting your application online, you may NOT have been successfully registered for PREPARE.
Once you are successfully registered, you will receive a "welcome" e-mail from Student Coordinators Selina Li and Louissa Oburra. If you do NOT receive this welcome e-mail within a week of applying, please contact Selina and Louissa immediately at prepare@cornell.edu. They will give you further information and instructions.
Once you have successfully registered, the Student Coordinators will also send you a Travel Form for you to complete and return. The ISSO will also charge the $200 registration fee to your University Bursar account, and the charge will appear on your July University Bursar bill.
As soon as you know your arrival time and location, please send this information to prepare@cornell.edu, so we can arrange your local transportation to the Cornell campus. Please visit our PREPARE FAQ page for further information on travel to Ithaca.
Where will I stay?
Participants will be allowed to move into their on-campus housing early, free of charge. (NOTE: Non-participants who arrive early on their own will NOT under any circumstances be allowed to move into university housing until 9:00 am Friday morning, August 21, when Residence Halls officially open.)
What about my family members?
The activities of PREPARE are designed for students, who will be quite busy during the program. We will, however, provide parents with information about activities and sight-seeing in Ithaca and the surrounding areas. We suggest that parents make their arrangements for their lodging at Ithaca area hotels and motels as soon as possible, since room availability may become limited. To arrange accommodations in the Ithaca area, please see VisitIthaca.com
