PREPARE Program for Incoming International Undergraduate Students at Cornell
August 17 - August 20, 2009
Application deadline was July 1, 2009 and is now CLOSED.
What is PREPARE?
Cornell University strongly encourages all incoming undergraduate international students to arrive in Ithaca four or five days BEFORE registration day in order to participate in PREPARE, the international pre-orientation program. This program runs for four days. This program provides travel-wearied international undergraduate students with an early start on their Cornell experience. During these four days, the newcomers will not only get ready to face college life, but will also make friends that will last throughout their Cornell years and beyond.
Time to Adjust Before University Orientation:
University orientation for the entire freshman class does not officially begin until the end of that week, so PREPARE will give you a chance to recover from travel fatigue and confusion before plunging into other orientation activities and academic tasks. PREPARE will teach you about Cornell's student life, international community, and traditions as well as covering practical matters. Our program provides the unique opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues with officials from throughout the University, including staff from the health services, campus police and students' academic departments.
Interact with Upper-Level International and U.S. American Students:
Most importantly, experienced upper-level international and U.S. students will be there to answer every question you might have about this exciting new part of your life. And before you begin to think PREPARE is all work and no play, we remind you that the program includes some great social activities as well. Prepare for an exciting time, a comfortable start to your Cornell career, and the chance to make friends for a lifetime.
